Birria (Meat for Tortillas for Partys and special occasions)
I am going to call this Birria because people keep telling me that is what it is. I just called it shredded meat for burros. It works great for weddings, partys, and just plain company. It is good.
Cook a couple roasts…like 10 pounds and shread.
I never get to make a little bit because when I make it, it seems to be for a lot of people.
to this shredded meat (drain the oil off) Add a couple large cans of crushed tomatoes…not diced, not sauce, not chunks…but use crushed…it truly makes a difference. Use the bigggggggggg cans.
Add garlic powder to taste,
salt, pepper to taste.
Take 2 large…large cans of diced chilis
Mix all together and let cook in pan until all hot and good.
I use my roaster oven to heat and keep mine hot until ready. It is really good and everyone has loved it.
To this you need to give them flour tortillas to make burros.
You can also use the cans of meat that you get at like sams or price club…they are about 5 pounds each…use 2. To this add 2/3 of one of their large cans of diced chilis(they are very large cans), and crushed tomatoes(they are very large cans). Save the rest for something else. Add garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste. It is very good and no one knows the difference that you didn’t spend all the time cooking and dicing the meat up. Heat good, and keep hot until everyone served.
